The initial consultation is your opportunity to share your ideas, inspirations, and vision. You'll be shown suitable fabric samples, and together with Alison’s expertise, your concept will be refined illustrated through a sketch. If you choose to proceed, a 25% deposit is required to secure your booking. Fabric is then ordered, and a sample is provided for coordinating details such as cakes, flowers, and accessories.
How much does it cost
Wedding dresses typically cost between £1100 to £3500, depending on the design and the type of fabric chosen.
How will I know what it will look like? What if I don't like it?
You will have a very good idea of the overall basic shape when we fit the toile. One of the advantages of having your gown designed and made is that you will see how the design evolves at each fitting. This flexibility gives us the opportunity to alter any aspects of the design as we progress, thus eliminating any potential problems as they arise. This is a partnership where the designer and the bride are working together towards the same goal- perfection on the day!
What if I put on or lose weight?
Although not ideal, another advantage of having your gown or garment made is that it fits you perfectly on the day. For the wedding, the final fitting doesn't happen until 7-10 days before the wedding.
When can I collect my wedding dress?
It’s usual to collect your wedding dress during the week leading up to the big day. If you're travelling for a destination wedding, we’re happy to assist with careful packing to ensure your gown arrives safely.
How long does it take to create a wedding dress?
Ideally, 8 months is the perfect amount of time to create a bespoke wedding dress, allowing plenty of time for design, fittings, and finishing touches. Some brides choose to start 12 months in advance to help envision the style to suit the season and overall concept. However, if your timeline is shorter, it’s still worth getting in touch—Alison is always happy to discuss what’s possible.
How do I clean my wedding dress
We always recommend a good dry cleaner who specialises in cleaning wedding gowns and who can arrange to have your gown packed in acid-free tissue paper and a double-layered box for storage.
If your question isn’t answered here, Alison would love to hear from you.
